- Review contract plans, specifications, and related documents for the assigned bid items thoroughly.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the assigned bid items.
- Familiarize oneself with general requirements, special conditions, and proposal requirements; discuss any queries with the Lead Estimator.
- Identify any unusual items within the bid items.
- Maintain and update bid documents systematically.
- Submit and maintain a log of Request for Information (RFIs) and Request for Clarification (RFCs).
- Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare comparison sheets using HCSS software.
- Assist in the preparation of the bid schedule.
- Identify Disadvantaged/Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (D/M/WBE) requirements and prepare Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) using SmartBid.
- Develop clear write-ups and necessary documentation for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP) type proposals.
- Collaborate in preparing documents for bid and proposal submissions.
- For Joint Venture bids, compare and reconcile quantities accurately.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and teamwork abilities.
- Willingly accept direction and seek assistance or clarification when needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including at least 3 years in Estimating roles.
- Proficiency in software applications including:
- HCSS Heavy Bid
- Blue Beam
- Excel
- Primavera P6
- SmartBid
The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $150,000, depending on the candidate's experience level.
