Estimator - Quantities Take Off

  • Review contract plans, specifications, and related documents for the assigned bid items thoroughly.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the assigned bid items.
  • Familiarize oneself with general requirements, special conditions, and proposal requirements; discuss any queries with the Lead Estimator.
  • Identify any unusual items within the bid items.
  • Maintain and update bid documents systematically.
  • Submit and maintain a log of Request for Information (RFIs) and Request for Clarification (RFCs).
  • Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare comparison sheets using HCSS software.
  • Assist in the preparation of the bid schedule.
  • Identify Disadvantaged/Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (D/M/WBE) requirements and prepare Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) using SmartBid.
  • Develop clear write-ups and necessary documentation for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP) type proposals.
  • Collaborate in preparing documents for bid and proposal submissions.
  • For Joint Venture bids, compare and reconcile quantities accurately.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingly accept direction and seek assistance or clarification when needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including at least 3 years in Estimating roles.
  • Proficiency in software applications including:
    • HCSS Heavy Bid
    • Blue Beam
    • Excel
    • Primavera P6
    • SmartBid

The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $150,000, depending on the candidate's experience level.
