We're on the lookout for a driven Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you'll have the opportunity to:

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the overall estimating effort pertinent to specific bids/projects as assigned.
  • Evaluate incoming bid solicitations to ensure relevance and compatibility. Maintain an updated bid schedule.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to establish the scope of work and necessary contents for estimates.
  • Aid in the preparation of preliminary schedules as needed for estimates.
  • Conduct detailed takeoffs accurately.
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive scope of work and estimate.
  • Work closely with engineers to devise bid designs for designated design scopes.
  • Acquire knowledge of the project and relevant regulations essential for project execution.
  • Assess subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and completeness.
  • Leverage and sustain historical data in bid preparation.
  • Monitor client modifications and inform the estimating team of any scope changes during the estimating phase.
  • Manage awarded contracts as assigned, potentially including estimating additional work items, change orders, and credits.
  • Collaborate with the project management team in finalizing material and subcontractor procurement.
  • Compile turnover packages for awarded projects for the project management team.
  • Maintain records of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including up-to-date information on supplier and subcontractor prices.
  • Explore and evaluate options for the most efficient construction methods.
  • Understand the best value approach to securing new projects.
  • Perform any additional duties as delegated.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2 or more years of relevant estimating experience, possessing a solid grasp of cost control, schedule tracking, material pricing, and estimating techniques.
  • Preferably, experience in heavy civil or commercial construction.
  • Proficiency in HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating software is advantageous.
  • Experience in wastewater treatment or commercial construction is a bonus.
  • Design/Build experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet scheduling constraints.
  • Excellent time management skills and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in reading and comprehending drawings and specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Capable of working harmoniously with individuals at all organizational levels, both internally and externally.
