Superintendent

The Superintendent serves as a key leader in on-site field administration and technical management for construction operations across projects of varying sizes, ensuring adherence to project life cycle milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Preconstruction and Project Management teams to establish initial project schedules and budgets, ensuring effective communication with subcontractors and vendors regarding sequence and schedule updates.
  • Provide leadership to the field team, overseeing daily construction activities and ensuring the presence of a representative from the company during all work.
  • Develop plans for material handling and site utilization, coordinating with engineers and ensuring proper inspection of received materials.
  • Implement and enforce project-specific security, quality assurance, and workmanship programs, involving all subcontractors.
  • Direct day-to-day construction activities to ensure timely completion in line with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of project documents and oversee the maintenance of accurate as-builts.
  • Facilitate progress meetings, assist in project reporting, and manage critical submittals to meet timeline and budgetary goals.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on budget development and labor cost management.
  • Lead or participate in post-bid activities and oversee the completion of construction punch lists.
  • Manage and mentor a team of employees, providing direction and support as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with project stakeholders including owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and oversee subcontractor adherence, managing OSHA site visits.

Position Requirements:

  • 7 to 10 years of commercial construction project experience as a field superintendent.
  • OSHA 30 Certification required.
  • Experience with large-scale multifamily wood-frame projects preferred.
  • Previous experience as a lead superintendent across all project stages preferred.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and scheduling software (Primavera / P6, SureTrack or Microsoft Projects) preferred.
  • Experience with ViewPoint construction management software advantageous.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The role involves work on active construction sites with exposure to various hazards and environmental conditions. Physical demands include climbing stairs, ladders, and negotiating construction areas, as well as occasional lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds. Successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including drug screens and background checks, is required.
