Land Surveyor

As a Land Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of infrastructure projects by accurately staking out sites, providing precise measurements, and ensuring the integrity of project boundaries. Leveraging your expertise and technical proficiency, you will collaborate with project teams to support the planning, design, and construction of a wide range of civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Staking and Layout: Utilize advanced surveying instruments and techniques to stake out precise locations for infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, and drainage systems, in accordance with project specifications and design plans.
  2. Boundary Surveys: Conduct boundary surveys to establish property lines, easements, and right-of-way boundaries, utilizing legal descriptions, plats, and survey records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  3. Topographic Mapping: Generate detailed topographic maps and profiles of project sites, utilizing GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment to collect elevation data and identify natural and man-made features.
  4. Construction Surveying: Provide construction layout services, including establishing control points, benchmarks, and reference lines, and monitoring construction activities to verify adherence to design plans and specifications.
  5. Data Analysis and Documentation: Compile, analyze, and interpret survey data to generate accurate reports, maps, and drawings, documenting survey findings and communicating results to project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  6. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey data, conducting field checks and inspections to verify survey measurements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  7. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements governing surveying activities, including OSHA regulations and state and local surveying standards, to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate surveying activities and support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  2. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the state of Illinois.
  3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in land surveying, with a focus on staking out infrastructure projects.
  4. Proficiency in surveying instruments and software, including total stations, GPS receivers, and AutoCAD.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  7. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Salary Range: The salary for this position is up to $125,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
